Talk:Xtank
From Documentation
As the original author of Xtank, I was pleasantly surprised to run across this page on an "impulse google search" for Xtank (something I haven't done in several years). After reading the Copyright page, I agree in retrospect that it was a mistake to inclue the "free of charge" clause on my original copyright. Being a student at MIT at the time, I had some awareness of what Richard Stallman was up to with the copyleft idea, but didn't realize how helpful it would have been to actually use it. In 2002, I was contacted by Nick Phillips about changing the copyright clause to a GPL or BSD-type one, and I agreed to do so. I also tried to help Nick contact various others who were involved in the implementation (I've got some emails from Nick archived away here if they're helpful) since he wanted to contact some of them about changing the copyright terms as well. This seemed like a lot of work to me, but I don't know all the ins & outs of getting something "copylefted". If there's any way I can help by officially changing the copyright terms now, let me know.
